Rationale - why I chose this topic

Since I am studying to become a teacher in two foreign languages – French and Russian –, the research question is interesting for myself, because I hope to learn much about an alternative teaching method that I possibly can use in my professional future. Since the results of the research project can be important for my personal professional life, it could also be interesting for other (future) teachers. That is why I would wish to share the research results with colleagues and fellow students.
The use of alternative teaching methods is important for every teacher. Staying with one or more well-tried methods is not just boring and demotivating for the students, but also for the teacher themselves and leads to an unsuccessful and ineffective learning environment. Moreover, those unchangingly methods don’t give students what they need for the future. To avoid such a miscarrying education, teachers are always forced to change and to be up to date. This includes amongst others refreshing their education methods.
In today’s schools such a change and education up-date is for example the use of digital media. The reasonable use of digital tools and platforms is a competence students have to acquire. (And not only students, but as well teachers and future teachers).
A transnational collaboration via online platforms could be a project that combines both, an alternative teaching method and acquisition of digital competences. Furthermore, through the direct contact to foreign students in different countries, students are given the chance to enhance their intercultural and also linguistic competences.

During my research for schools and teachers using or having used eTwinning, I considered, that not only I am interested in the presented research question, but that also other teachers are interested and asked for the possibility to have access to the results of my research project. These responses to my research project encouraged me to continue working in this research topic.
